Action Groups & Coalitions
OPIRG’s action groups are autonomous collectives of students and community members who organize around specific social and environmental justice issues, campaigns, or initiatives that align with OPIRG’s mandate and principles.
Groups could be developed in collaboration with LSPIRG or be pre-existing.
They are made up of students and community members are rooted in grass roots organizing / initiatives. If you have an idea for a ab Action group or are currently working on an initiative or project that you would like funding and support for, click below.
- 50 free buttons each year, then $1 per button when passed 50 buttons
- An organizational vote in the annual board of directors elections (in addition to any individual members’ votes)
- A revenue and expense bank account lines for funds raised and ongoing expenses for the Action Group’s operations
- Monthly online fundraising platform on OPIRG Brock’s Patreon
- Featured on the Community Partner’s page on the OPIRG Brock website
- Accessing OPIRG’s not-for-profit/charity status for grant applications
- Access to Charitable Tax receipts through OPIRG Provincial
- Access to OPIRG Brock’s Canva Pro account
- Access to booking the OPIRG Brock-NRJ Zoom Pro Account
- Use of OPIRG Brock’s policies and templates, where applicable
- Facilitating planning sessions (e.g. goal setting, event planning, fundraising, etc.)
- Promotion of events, campaigns, and resources to the OPIRG Brock newsletter, membership, and social media
- Circulation of hard copy promotion materials, including putting up posters, tabling opportunities, and distribution of flyers
- Support for Action Group’s organizing teams where possible, from the OPIRG Brock staff, Board, volunteers, and on occasion, placement students
- Connections across Ontario doing similar kinds of activism through the Ontario Provincial Network
- Priority for future collaborations and grant applications, where applicable
